This elegant matching pair of 19th-century Staffordshire Spaniels, also known as hearth dogs, fireside dogs, or "wally dugs," brings timeless charm to any space. Traditionally placed on mantelpieces in Victorian homes, these pottery figurines are crafted in earthenware and feature the distinctive Staffordshire style, complete with painted fur and a protective stance.

Measuring 22cm in height and 15cm in width, the pair is in very nice condition for their age. One of the dogs has a small glaze imperfection around the back (see photos), and both display mild glaze crazing, as expected with pottery of this age. This natural aging only adds to their character, charm, and appeal. Dating back to the 1800s, they are identified by the gold chain details, a hallmark of the period. Without a maker's mark, these spaniels remain a beautiful and classic addition to any collection or home decor.
